Mysterious SPECTRE operative portrayed by Jesper Christensen in Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, and Spectre. It is White who introduces Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen) to African rebel leader Steven Obanno (Isaach De Bankolé), assuring the latter that Le Chiffre is an investment genius. When Le Chiffre blows Obanno’s money in a stock scheme and a losing poker tournament against Bond (Daniel Craig), it is White who terminates his contract. White later recovers Bond’s winnings in Venice, thanks to the coerced cooperation of Bond’s colleague and lover Vesper Lynd (Eva Green). After Vesper commits suicide at the bottom of a Venetian canal, a vengeful Bond (Daniel Craig) tracks White to his Italian estate and shoots him.
The story picks up here in Quantum of Solace, as Bond throws White into the trunk of his Aston Martin and takes him to an MI6 safe house in Siena, Italy. But his interrogation by M (Dame Judi Dench) is interrupted by treacherous MI6 agent Craig Mitchell (Glenn Foster), allowing their prisoner to escape. In investigating the betrayal, Bond learns that Mr. White is a member of a mysterious international crime syndicate known as Quantum.
White’s mystery deepens in Spectre, in which Bond discovers that Quantum is just one arm of an even more devious criminal organization called SPECTRE. Infiltrating a SPECTRE conclave in Rome, 007 learns that syndicate head Franz Oberhauser (Christoph Waltz) plans to assassinate White, whom he refers to as the Pale King. Getting a jump on the competition, 007 tracks White to a mountain lodge in Altaussee, Austria, where White is dying of thallium poisoning. Bond gives his enemy the opportunity to take his own life—shades of Bond’s offer to Major Dexter Smythe, father of the title character (Maud Adams) in Octopussy. Before he shoots himself with his own gun, White asks Bond to protect his daughter, psychiatrist Dr. Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux), who will have information on how to track down Oberhauser of SPECTRE—a.k.a. Ernst Stavro Blofeld.
